Using the following balanced reaction, determine how many moles of hydrogen gas (H2) are produced from 5.00 g Na:
2Na + 2H(subscript 2)O ---------2NaOH +H(subscript 2)
a. 2.5 moles
b. 0.109 moles
c. 0.217 moles
d. 0.435 moles
e. not enough information
Thank you
Can you help me determine moles of a product?
the answer is a) 0.109 mole
first you have to find number of moles. since you are given the mass of Na,
no of moles of Na = 5/23
= 0.21739
from the equation, (no of moles of H2) / (no of moles of Na) = 1/2
so therefore, no of moles of H2 = 1/2 x 0.21739
= 0.1086
= 0.109 moles (3sf)
hope this helps! :D
