How many moles of magnesium are needed to react with 16g of O2?

a. 0.10 mole b. 0.20 mole c. 2.0 mole d.3.0 moles e. 0.80 moles

How many moles of magnesium are needed to react with 16g of O2?
2Mg + O2 --%26gt; 2MgO

16g O2 = 16/32 = 0.5 mol O2

so you need 2 x 0.5=1.0 mol Mg
Reply:as it is (mgo) and the atom of oxygen =16 g

so it needs only one mole of magnesium
